If you’re reading this it probably means I threatened your life if you didn’t so…welcome and YOU’RE SAFE!
I have lived in NYC for just over nine years and just like every millennial-Carrie-Bradshaw wannabe, I have spent most of that time trying to find something interesting enough to blog about and not embarrass myself in the process. Whatever idea crossed my mind was supposed to make me a millionaire, get me a book & movie combo deal, and launch me into super stardom.
Although that goal has slightly diverted, I still feel the need to write and engage with my friends in a way that is both rewarding digitally and IN PERSON BECAUSE LIFE HAPPENS OUTSIDE OF THE SCREEN, PEOPLE (or at least that’s what I try to tell myself after 3 hours of stalking North West photos on Instagram).
Anyways, back to this. So, if you know anything about me you know that my definition of heaven is a couch, a TV, and food. I don’t have a definition of hell but I am sure it includes chopping, doing dishes, and waiting for things to be ready. In other words, I was not born to cook.
In comes Chrissy Teigen, one of my top 5 favorite people in the whole planet (I am borderline unhealthily obsessed with her) and launches a cooking book. When that happens I think what better way to fuel this unhealthy obsession than by cooking through her book Julie-Julia style and chat with my favorite New Yorkers in the meantime (they’re all my friends, don’t expect any Fat Jewish appearances here).
So what I am going to do here is this…I will meet up with my friends for an evening of chit chat and cooking using Chrissy’s book Cravings as a guide. I will post about my time cooking with them as well as some cool anecdotes with them during my time in the city. Follow me in the journey (ugh, hate that word, sorry), meet my amazing friends, and see how a girl who loves to sit and hates to clean learns how-to-sorta-kinda cook!
ps. I have attached footage of me touching goddess Chrissy so you can better understand the lengths of my obsession.
